About the Program
Social Work at VAMC Fayetteville is an integral part of health care. Social Work provides assistance to veterans in every part of the medical center. We help veterans and their families with all aspects of their health care.
Social workers help veterans find resources to meet their needs within the VA system and in their community such as —

- Assistance for veterans with severe mental illness through the MHICM program

Counseling
- For veterans having marriage and family problems
- For veterans with drug, alcohol, and emotional problems
- For veterans and their families who are adjusting to an illness or disability
- For veterans who want to prepare advance directives and durable powers of attorney for health care or finances
- For Veterans and their families coping with terminal illness
- For veterans with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder or readjustment problems
Advocacy
- Social workers can represent veterans in difficult situations where another voice of support may be helpful.
