HCHV RESIDENTIAL CONTRACT HOUSING PROGRAMS: The Fayetteville VAMC is in processing of developing residential contract programs for homeless Veterans. The Emergency Contract program will provide temporary residential shelter beds for homeless Veterans that are eligible for VAMC services, and appropriate for immediate housing placement. Transitional Contract housing program will provide temporary rehabilitative residential shelter beds for Veterans that are diagnosed with severe persistent mental illness and substance use disorders. The contract housing programs assist the Veteran in transitioning into permanent, stable housing.
TRANSITIONAL HOUSING PROGRAMS (Grant Per Diem Program): Currently there are only 21 Transitional (GPD) beds available in our catchment area, The Sgt Eugene Ashley Memorial Homeless Transitional Center which is located in Wilmington, N.C.; additionally Veterans are connected and referred to GPD programs outside our catchment area.
PERMANENT SUPPORTIVE HOUSING - HUD/VASH Program: The HUD/VASH Program collaborates with Fayetteville and Wilmington Housing Authorities to provide rental subsidies with intensive case management through the VA for homeless Veterans and their families. Eligible Veterans must meet HUD definition of homeless and have income under very low income standards for community. Capacity is limited by number of vouchers available.
