Local Responders Ensure Safe Response at Fayetteville VA Medical Center

February 7, 2013

The Fayetteville VA Medical Center and the City of Fayetteville emergency response teams responded to a suspicious package that was delivered to the medical center director’s office earlier today.  The first floor A wing was cordoned off to ensure employee and public safety at all times.  The situation has ended and all facility entrances are accessible and open to the public.

The Fayetteville Fire Department’s Haz-Mat Team is investigating the incident.

“We thank our Emergency Response teams for a rapid and thorough response,” said Elizabeth Goolsby, Fayetteville VAMC Director.  “All employees have been notified the A wing is safe and the medical center continues at normal operations.   All appropriate officials have been notified and will continue to investigate this incident.”
