VA Rural Health Team Coming To Whiteville, N.C.

Veterans in the Whiteville community can enroll in the VA health care system, receive health information, and find out about various services available to them through the Veterans Health Administration from representatives of the Fayetteville VA Medical Center.

The center’s Rural Health Team will be set up at the American Legion Whiteville Post 233, 313 West Phillip Street, Whiteville, NC 28472 on Wednesday, May 16, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  The health team consists of a nurse educator who can provide materials and discuss such issues as diabetes management and tips on controlling hypertension and cholesterol levels.  An eligibility and enrollment specialist will be on-hand to discuss VA health benefits and accept Veterans’ enrollments on site.  Information about women’s health care, mental health services and other specialty care and programs for Veterans will also be available.

Anyone who served in the U.S. military is invited to attend the event.  Veterans are highly encouraged to bring a copy of their DD Form 214 (discharge paperwork) and last year’s financial information to expedite enrollment in the system.
