Veterans Rural Health Team Comes To South Port, NC on Oct. 5

Veterans in the South Port community can enroll in the VA health care system, receive health information and find out about various services available to them at the Veteran’s Health and Information Fair hosted by the Fayetteville VA Medical Center Rural Health Outreach team.
The medical center’s health team will be set up at the Brunswick Senior Resource Center South Port, 1513 North Howe Street, Suite 1, South Port, NC 28461 on Friday, October 5 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The rural health team consists of a nurse educator and health care specialists who can provide information on diabetes management, controlling hypertension and cholesterol levels, women’s health care, mental health services and other specialized programs available to Veterans. An eligibility and enrollment specialist will be on-hand to discuss VA health benefits and accept Veterans’ enrollments on site.
Anyone who served in the U.S. military is invited to attend the event. Veterans are highly encouraged to bring a copy of their DD Form 214 (discharge paperwork) and last year’s financial information to expedite enrollment in the system.
