Veterans Rural Health Fair Coming To Hamlet
Veterans in the Hamlet area can enroll in the VA health care system and receive health information about various services available to them from representatives of the Fayetteville VA Medical Center (VAMC) Rural Health Outreach team at Richmond Community College on July 27.
This is a collaborative effort with the Office of Representative Garland E. Pierce, Senator Kay Hagan's Office, Veterans Benefits Administration and Fayetteville VAMC programs for Operation Enduring Freedom/Operation Iraqi Freedom Veterans, Homelessness Veterans and Rural Health Outreach.
The medical center’s health team will be set up in the Cole Auditorium at Richmond Community College, 1042 West Hamlet Ave, Hamlet, NC on Saturday, July 27 from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon.
The rural health team consists of a nurse educator and health care specialists who can provide information on diabetes management, controlling hypertension and cholesterol levels, women’s health care, mental health services and other specialized programs available to Veterans. An eligibility and enrollment specialist will be on-hand to discuss VA health benefits and accept Veterans’ enrollments on site.
Anyone who served in the U.S. military is invited to attend the event. Veterans are highly encouraged to bring a copy of their DD Form 214 (discharge paperwork) and last year’s financial information to expedite enrollment in the system.
