Medical Center Lifts Visitation Restrictions For Flu Season

“Flu vaccines still available for employees, Veterans”

WHAT:  Fayetteville VA Medical Center (VAMC) and the Community Based Outpatient Clinics have lifted visitor restrictions that were implemented in December 2012 due to an outbreak of the flu,  The number of flu cases in the area have significantly decreased which prompted this action.  Though the numbers of cases have been reduced, we remain in Flu season until April.  If you have not received your flu vaccine, now is the time to do it.


WHO:  Medical center officials continue to emphasize the importance of prevention during flu season that runs from September to April each year.  Recommendations for employees and Veterans are to get vaccinated.  Stay healthy, protect yourself and others; get the flu vaccine. 


WHERE:  Fayetteville VAMC Flu Clinic:  Open in February from 8:00 am to 12:00 noon, Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri (Flu clinic is closed on Wed.).  The clinic is open to employees and Veterans who have a valid/current Veteran or employee ID card. 

Fayetteville VAMC Employee Health:  The Influenza Vaccine is available for employees on a walk-in basis from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm, Mon through Fri.    

Primary Care Clinics:  Primary Care Clinics will continue to provide flu shots through March.  Flu shots are available to employees and Veterans who have a valid/current Veteran or employee ID card.  Flu vaccines are available at all sites of care to include the Community Based Outpatient Clinics.
